compare myself to Tony Soprano? I'm not a professional gangster. None of my friends are out to knife me — as far as I know.
Tony represents everything that I go for in my own writing. He's smart, surprising, irreverent, and down to earth. He's full of layers and surprises. He's by turns vulgar and tender. And he's funny as hell.
That's what I want in my fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and performance. I want to surprise you, make you laugh, make you think -- and yes, sometimes even shock you.
I studied creative writing at St. Mary's College of California, where I received my Master's degree in fiction. I've performed my work at events and venues all over San Francisco and the East Bay, including Porchlight, A Storytelling Series, Inside Storytime, The Marsh and Tell It On Tuesday.
My work has been published in print and online. You'll find me talking dirty on CleanSheets, one of the best internet resources for sexy stories. My work for CleanSheets has gained accolades, if not parental approval. You'll also find snippets of my short, strange prose at Defenestration Magazine and Pindeldyboz.
I've been a resident at The Julia and David White Artists' Colony in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica. I've also served as a fiction editor for MARY, the St. Mary's College graduate literary journal.
Summer 2009 found me busy with a July residency at the Kimmel Harding Center for the Arts, as well as a September residency at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
Make sure to keep up on all the dirt!
